Gaelforce Beginner Wknd at Killary - 3-5th Feb 2012

Training Weekend for Beginners at Killary Adventure Co - Feb 3rd - 5th 2012

The ethos of this weekend is the same as the beginners training days in Dublin. That is to give you the opportunity to change your life in a very positive and healthy way. If you are very unfit or overweight and you really want to do something about it but none of the usual methods seem to work then this is for you.

All you need is a sense of adventure and a willingness to make the change. We have been running these weekends for 3 years now and have had a huge success rate in getting participants across the finish line.

Also whilst our instructors are absolutely top level they have worked with us for years and completely understand the fact that you have no idea what you are doing and that your fitness may be completely nonexistent.

The weekend starts at the very beginning. They will talk you through everything you need to know and will then very gently introduce you to all the different disciplines. This weekend is specifically for beginners (we have different levels throughout the year) and that means you will be surrounded by like minded individuals who are as uncertain and as new to it as you are.

You will be individually assessed and a training programme will be devised that will suit whatever level of fitness you are at (even if that is zero).

This weekend is about encouragement and fun rather than a more forceful approach that other training companies might use. It is about showing individuals how much fun training can be, how completely possible it is to move from a very low level of fitness to be able to complete Gaelforce West 8 months later.

It will also take away a lot of the uncertainty that can surround adventure races, our instructors will not only train you but will be able to answer all your questions, on the best gear (best value for money) the best bikes etc. They will be able to let you know what to expect on the day, what you should eat and drink coming up to the race and on the day of the race.
